FreeTao Tai Chi exists to promote the art of Tai Chi in an un-diluted way. Here you’ll find some useful information on the subject of Tai Chi supplied by Tai Chi masters and adepts as first-hand knowledge rather than second-hand information gathered in piece-fed-meal or fanciful ‘Chinese-Whispers’ fashion.

Tai Chi is an ancient Chinese martial art based on internal energy work. The internal side of it is what differentiates it from other common forms of martial art. This means it can only be passed on through direct transmission from teachers face-to-face; it takes long time, years and years of dedicated hard work to accomplish;  it has got a much longer ‘life span’ than other external forms of martial art or exercises based on muscular strength or speed; and its impact and benefits on the living organism of the practitioner is more organic, profound, deeper and much longer-lasting than from other forms of exercises. In other words, it doesn’t matter from what age you start Tai Chi and for what purpose, you’re bound to reap some level of benefit provided you’ve received the right kind of instructions and you’re keeping up your daily practice.

It’s my personal belief that our health and well-being is in our own hands rather than those of experts, doctors and therapists; and the goal of living an illness and disease free life IS achievable through the regular and correct practice of Tai Chi. We are our own healer - the most powerful healing comes from within ourselves rather than from any outside source. We only have to know how to tap into the potential powers. Tai Chi can be a very efficient and powerful tool for achieving such an end.

My personal aim of creating this web-site is not to create more competition or division but to consolidate the common ground of Tai Chi as a whole and therefore maintain its integrity.

I’d also like to acknowledge my deep gratitude to my beloved teacher, Mr. Li Lian, a true Tai Chi master of the highest regard, who has being instructing me in the practice of Tai Chi in an authentic, un-diluted and most profound way completely free of any selfish desire for personal gain. I also feel indebted to other teachers who started me off in Tai Chi as well as Mr. Li Lian’s disciples, my fellow practitioners in Beijing in giving their selfless support in my personal practice and in providing raw materials for this web-site.

May your Tai Chi practice bring you light and joy in your daily living!
